The Morning sun rises, and across homes, the day begins with the hum of activity. For mothers of kids with hair loss, there’s a unique part of the morning routine that often goes unnoticed: fitting a wig on their child's head. It's a task done with a mix of hope and precision, hope that it stays in place through school plays and playground fun, and precision to ensure comfort and security. It's more than just fixing hair; it's about giving their child the confidence to step out into the world without fear. Like the time when a little girl’s wig came off during a school performance, the memory of her embarrassment lingers, reminding us of the real challenges faced by these brave young individuals. And
Understanding the Journey
We understand the little checks and adjustments made before a child steps out, the encouraging nods that say, “You look great,” and the strength each child musters to face the day. At Tiwaoma Hair, we hear these stories and they move us. We are committed to not just listening but understanding, to creating a wig that’s more than a product—it's a part of a child's daily life, a part of their confidence.
Here are our five Step Guide to ensure a secured and fun wig experience for your child
1. Parent-Child Communication
we encourage Mums to have a conversation with their little one about why they need to wear a wig, the duration for which they will be worn, and what activities to avoid to keep the wig secure. Understanding the reason behind wearing a wig and how to care for it can be empowering for children.
2. Weight and Length.
it’s important to choose a wig that has a comfortable length and weight appropriate for your child’s age. This ensures that they can comfortably wear it.
3. Occasion-Appropriate Wigs
Choose the right wig for the right occasion to ensure the child feels comfortable and confident in their activities. For instance, a ponytail-styled wig for dance classes which is lightweight and short, a similarly light, short wig styled backward for school, or one or two bun stylish ponytails for parties. Additionally, recommend a full lace frontal for instances when the child will be wearing the wig for extended periods, like over four hours, for added security.
4. Cap Size
We suggest you get a measuring tape, and take measurements of your child’s head circumference. You can find our guide on taking the measurements . This will ensure that you communicate the correct head size to your wig maker.
CAP SIZE CIRCUMFERENCE |
Toddler 18-19 inches |
Child 20-21 inches |
5. Adjustable Straps
Ensure that your wig maker includes adjustable straps that are correctly measured in length and well-placed to provide extra security for your child.
